DESCRIPTION
The Li-ion Tamer Rack Monitoring System detects off-gas events that occur in the early stages of lithium-ion battery failure. By detecting these events, hazards can be investigated and dealt with before thermal runaway occurs and flames and smoke cause any damage to surrounding equipment.
Li-ion Tamer rack monitors consist of three key components; a control panel, monitoring sensors and reference sensors.
Monitoring sensors are installed into the battery rack to monitor for off-gas events, while reference sensors are distributed throughout the area around the battery racks to monitor the ambient environment and air inlets, such as HVAC exchangers and doors, so the can system cancel common mode signals.
Reference sensors should be installed in areas such as any entrance or exit locations to the battery space, including doors and access points, and any possible gas entry points, such as forced or passive vents and unsealed gaps.
Multiple points that are identified on one surface can be monitored with one reference sensor and up to 3 reference sensors can be used with each controller. All reference sensor cables and their associated ports are blue to provide easy installation and reduce the risk of improper connection.
Reference sensors can be mounted by either creating a hole through the panel the sensor is to be mounted on or using the supplied mounting bracket.
